Trauma Informed Care in Behavioral Health Settings
This Trauma Informed Care series will review key concepts and strategies, trauma/substance abuse and assessment/treatments. Trauma Informed care is a best practice that promotes recovery and resiliency; all overviews of assessments and treatment models will be evidence based.
Session 2: Understanding Substance Use Disorders from a Trauma Perspective
Program Description:
This 3-hour training is designed to explore the relationship between Substance Use Disorders and Trauma. Studies have shown strong correlation between trauma and substance abuse across age groups. This training will focus on how trauma and substance abuse interface, in addition to discussing best practices for assessment and treatment.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will learn the prevalence of trauma and substance use disorders.
- Participants will learn how to conceptualized and integrate trauma and substance abuse treatment.
- Participants will learn about models of co-occurring trauma and substance use disorders.
